Union Local 2026 Distinguished Scholars

Profiles of the Union Local Class of 2026 top three scholars follow.

Valedictorian Miss Delaney Butler

Delaney Marlo Butler is the daughter of Bryan and Becca Butler. She resides in Belmont with her parents and sisters, Ramsey and Presley. She is graduating with a 5.00 GPA. Throughout high school Delaney has been a member of many clubs. These include Drug Free Club, FEA, Pep Club, Superintendent’s Council, Prom Planning, Homecoming Planning, National Honor Society, Captains’ Club, Student Council, and a part of the Secret Sisters. Delaney has been her class president since freshman year and is currently president of the National Honor Society and Student Council. She also has been a candidate for the Junior Prom Court, Homecoming Court, and Senior Prom Court. In her high school career she has been a 4 year member of both the volleyball and basketball teams where she is a 3 year letterman in both. In her senior seasons Delaney was a captain in both sports. This past year Delaney’s most notable accomplishments were becoming Union Local’s Career Assist Record Holder and being named Honorable Mention All-Ohio in Volleyball. Outside of school Delaney works at the Barnesville Elks as a waitress. After graduation Delaney will attend Baldwin Wallace University where she will major in Accounting and continue her volleyball career.

Valedictorian Mr. Brady Roe

Brady Roe is the son of Shaun and Trisha Roe from Belmont Ohio. He resides with his parents and brother, Liam and sister, Hadley. Brady is graduating with a 5.00 GPA. He is a 4 year academic award winner, member of the National Honor Society, 2 year member of Superintendent’s Council, and a member of the Student Council where he serves as vice president. He is a 4 year member of the soccer team serving as captain in both junior and senior years, currently holding the record for career goals. He is a 3 year member of the swim team also serving as captain, 4 year member of the track team where he is also captain. He is a member of the Robotics Club where he has participated in multiple competitions. Brady plans to attend West Virginia University, where he has been accepted into the honors program, majoring in Immunology and Medical Microbiology. After college graduation he plans on attending medical school to pursue a career as a physician.

Salutatorian Mr. George Burkhart

George Burkhart is the son of Isaac and Dorothy Burkhart and resides in Jacobsburg. He finished his senior year with a 4.81 GPA. During his time at Union Local, he enjoyed career technical courses, such as engineering and shop. Additionally, he was active in the Robotics and Drug Free clubs. Outside of school he helps on his family’s farm raising beef cattle, sheep, goats, and poultry. George is a 10 year 4-H member and has milked cows for Plainfield Farm for the past two years. After high school, George will pursue a degree in HVAC technology at Belmont College.
