Thanks to their efforts in winning multiple OVAC championships across different sports, Barnesville secured the 3A division title. The 2025-2026 athletic year for the Shamrocks was an impressive one.
Barnesville’s varsity football, cheerleading, wrestling, boys bowling, boys swimming and boys track teams all claimed OVAC crowns. Varsity golf, girls track and girls swim teams also contributed to the school’s success.
Other overall class champion winners belong to Conotton Valley High School (1A), Toronto High School (2A), St. Clairsville High School (4A) and Wheeling Park High School (5A).
This win for the Shamrocks marks the third year in a row that they have won the 3A Class Championship. Barnesville Athletic Director Brad Hannahs, had this to say following the results at the OVAC Banquet of Champions:
“I couldn’t be prouder of our student-athletes and coaches for an incredible year. Winning the Overall OVAC 3A Championship for the third straight year is a testament to the dedication, hard work, and extra effort our coaches put in day in and day out with their athletes.
A huge congratulations to our team champions in football, cheer, wrestling, boys bowling, boys swim, and boys track—your commitment and teamwork truly set the standard. Equally important, our teams in golf, girls swim, and girls track contributed crucial points that helped us reach this overall victory.
Every athlete, coach, and supporter at Barnesville plays a role in building a culture of excellence. This achievement is not just about championships; it’s about the hard work, perseverance, and pride that our programs consistently display. We’re thrilled to celebrate this milestone, and I look forward to seeing our athletes continue to excel in the seasons ahead.”
