Track & Field: Several Shamrocks Qualify for Regionals
BARNESVILLE — Last week, Barnesville High School’s varsity boys and girls track and field teams participated in the 2026 Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) Division 4 and Division 5 District Tournament.
The tournament lasted two days on May 18 and May 21. Final results for it can be found here. As for the Shamrocks, five student athletes qualified for the regional tournament.
That tournament will begin tomorrow, May 27 and will conclude on May 29. It will take place in Austintown, Ohio. More information regarding the regional tournament can be found on Barnesville High School’s Athletics Facebook page.
The five students who qualify for regionals are junior Cole Francis in both the 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles, sophomore Lydia Welch for shot put and discus throw, junior Macy Palmer for shot put, freshman Kali Jones for long jump and freshman Ladyn Hines for pole vault.
These student athletes, guided by Head Coach Dylan Rogers (boys team) and Head Coach Mark Brown (girls team), once again prove how consistent programs have been with track and field.
After this week, families and fans of Shamrock athletics will know if any of these athletes will advance to the state tournament. Updates on that will be provided after the regional tournament has concluded.
