It must be summer. Over a hundred years ago that possibly meant swimming in the Epworth Park Lake. This real photo postcard profiles the bathhouse at the park. This structure was later replaced. Today, the embankment side concrete walls of the latter structure remains.
Also note the rear of the cottages. Cottage #23 that remains standing is shown along with cottages #20-22 that were eventually demolished.
Also of interest are the rows of wood benches where park visitors could watch activities on the lake.
A major reason for the bathhouse was no one could wear swimwear on the park grounds -street clothes only. A swimmer would change into full body swimsuits in the building then proceed into the water!
