Accident near Alledonia Claims One

ST. CLAIRSVILLE – On June 6, the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to Township Road 101 near State Route 148 in Washington Township, Belmont County for a serious injury ATV  crash.  

A 2009 Yahama YXR700F, driven by Debra Street, 71, of Alledonia, was traveling eastbound on Township Road 101. Ronald Street, 72, of Alledonia was riding on the UTV with Mrs. Street. While negotiating a turn, the UTV traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a railroad crossing sign. The UTV overturned and ejected Mrs. Street and partially ejected Mr. Street.

Both Mr. Street and Mrs. Street sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash and were transported to UPMC Hospital in Pittsburgh by STAT MedEvac.

Assisting the St. Clairsville Post at the scene were: Belmont County Sheriff’s Office, STAT MedEvac and the Smith Township Volunteer Fire Department.

Mr. Street succumbed to his injuries sustained in the crash later that afternoon.

Neither Mr. Street nor Mrs. Street were utilizing safety equipment at the time of the crash.

Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in this crash.

The crash remains under investigation at this time.
