Barnesville, Fairview Fire Personnel Train

BARNESVILLE – Barnesville and Fairview volunteer fire personnel took part in a hands-on training exercise at Barnesville Station Saturday, July 18, to learn more about Thermal Imaging Cameras (TICs).

Earlier this year, in February, the Barnesville department received a state grant of $15,000 from the Ohio State Fire Marshal to purchase the cameras.

According to a social media post by the Barnesville department, “a Thermal Imaging Camera (TIC) is a tool firefighters use to detect heat signatures. It allows us to ‘see’ heat through smoke and low-visibility conditions, helping us locate victims, identify hidden fire, find hot spots, and navigate more safely during emergency incidents.”

According to a post by the Fairview VFD, “after a PowerPoint presentation and classroom discussion, crews were able to participate in a hands-on exercise and see the equipment in action as well as test the capabilities of various brands and styles”.
