Gene Primo Magnani
Gene Primo Magnani, of Belmont, Ohio, died Friday, July 24, 2026, at the Enclave in Barnesville, Ohio.
He was born September 16, 1946, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, a son of the late Primo Timothy Magnani and Josephine A. Jackowski Magnani.
Gene was a Superintendent for Ohio River Colliers, as well as Oxford, which he retired from in 2011. He was a member of the former St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lafferty and currently a member of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Barnesville. His memberships included the Lafferty Moose Lodge, the Barnesville Elks, and the Schlepps Crew at Morristown. Gene also served ten years as a Union township trustee.
Gene enjoyed the outdoors. He liked a good day of fishing, tinkering around in his garden and walking in the woods to look for mushrooms. As an alum of the class of ‘64, he liked to attend games and events for a variety of UL Jet sports.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald Magnani.
Gene is survived by his loving wife, Sharon A. Gatten Magnani; two sons, Michael (Kelly) Magnani and Mathew Magnani; three granddaughters, Jordan Nicole Magnani, Rylee Renee Magnani and Baylee Lynn Magnani; and a sister, Ellen (Fred) Foraker; nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at the Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, Ohio for a memorial visitation on Friday, July 31st from 2 p.m. until time of memorial service at 4 p.m. A private inurnment will be held at the convenience of the family in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lafferty.
