Rebel Roots Studios Opens on Main Street
Rebel Roots Studio hosted their ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, July 27. The new business is a hair salon that also offers a variety of other services such as pedicures, manicures, and waxing. You can find it at 119 East Main Street in downtown Barnesville.
The shop is owned and operated by Kelsey Howiler, who has 16 years of experience in the cosmetology business. Eight of those years were spent as a store manager for a chain shop in St. Clairsville. Kelsey recently decided to leave the hair salon and launch her own business.
Rebel Roots Studio gets its name because Kelsey views its existence as an act of rebellion. At her former shop, “you have rules. You have to do a haircut in 12- to 16-minutes. If you’re over that you are in trouble. You only get two minutes between clients.”
“I want a country, homey vibe where my girls feel like they’re comfortable, and they don’t have to rush. Because when you’re with a customer, I feel like it should be just about the customer, not about the next customer that’s about to come in.”
Howiler reinforced the point that the salon will be a welcome environment to everyone. “I do want everyone to know that this is a judgment free zone. Everybody is welcome. Your race, religion, or politics doesn’t mater. Everybody’s welcome.”
