Barnesville Women’s Softball League Wraps Up Another Successful Season

BARNESVILLE — Another successful season has come to a close for the Barnesville Women’s Softball League. This tradition continues to bring competition, friendship, and community spirit to the ballfield each summer.
The 2026 season kicked off during the first week of June and concluded in the first week of August. Eight teams competed throughout the summer, taking the field every Monday and Wednesday evenings in a league that has been a staple of the Barnesville community for many years.
After an exciting season of play, the Angel’s Girls organized by Angel Lake, captured the league championship, while Chapz Bar & Grill organized by Sarah Tacosik, finished as the runner-up. Both teams showcased outstanding sportsmanship and determination throughout the season.
While the competition on the field is always exciting, the league is about much more than wins and losses. It provides an opportunity for women of all ages to stay active, build friendships, and continue a tradition that has been part of the community for generations.
The league extends its sincere appreciation to everyone who helped make this season possible. A special thank you goes to the dedicated umpires, Taison Starr and Aydon VanHorn, and the concession stand workers, whose efforts kept players and fans well-fed throughout the summer. The league also recognizes Rich Wells and the Barnesville Memorial Park crew for the countless hours they devoted to preparing and maintaining the fields, ensuring a great playing experience during the season.
League President Leslie Daugherty expressed her gratitude to everyone who contributed to another successful season.
“This league has been a long-standing tradition in our community, and it wouldn’t be possible without the commitment of our players, volunteers, sponsors, and everyone who supports us each summer,” Daugherty said. “Thank you to every woman who came out week after week to play the game they love. We look forward to continuing this tradition for many years to come.”
