Dorothy Jane Luyster Householder

Dorothy Jane Luyster Householder, age 85, of Freeport died unexpectedly at 5:58 p.m. Wednesday. August 5, 2026 at Country View Assisted Living Facility in Lore City, Guernsey County, Ohio.

She was born March 19, 1941 in Belmont County, Ohio, a daughter of the late Glen Wilson Luyster and Mary Elizabeth Russell Luyster.

Dorothy graduated from Holloway High School in 1959. She was a nurse’s aide for Flushing Nursing Home and Cambridge Health Care for several years.

She attended the church in Smyrna, worked outside mowing grass on the farm, and was an avid crocheter.

Her husband of 60 years, Raymond Lloyd Householder, died June 22, 2019. They were married September 23, 1961.

Surviving are a son, Eric (Nancy) Householder of Lore City; a granddaughter, Laura Householder of New Matamoras; a grandson, Elias Householder of Cambridge; two great-granddaughters, Oakley and Finley Handschumacher of New Matamoras; a brother: Baynard (Joan) Luyster of Navarre; two sisters: Martha Sue Luyster of Brewster, and Connie (Mike) Robertson of Columbus; a sister-in-law, Judy Luyster of Freeport and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Nancy Thompson and Jean Gleason; and a brother, Richard Luyster.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, August 10, 2026 in Koch Funeral Home, 216 S High Street, Freeport. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 also in the funeral home with Peggy Milliken officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, 71765 Hendrysburg-Freeport Road, Piedmont, Ohio 43983.
