In 2025 members of the Women’s Club of Barnesville approached the Village of Barnesville regarding the club’s deteriorated shelter house at Barnesville Memorial Park.
Ultimately it was decided the best option was to raze the original structure and start over. The big question was how to accomplish the task since the club did not have the resources to make the project happen.
That’s when local contractor Adam Ackerman came forward filling the role of “knight in shining armor” offering to erect a replacement.
Work remaining on the project includes gable end wall finishes and adding gutters and downspouts.
The Women’s Club of Barnesville, formerly known as the Junior Women’s Club, is associated with the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC). The local club was “federated” in 1935.
