Sue Ann (Friday) Callow
Sue Ann Callow, age 89, formerly of Jerusalem Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 30th, 2026 at Inniswood Health and Rehabilitation Center in Columbus, Ohio. Sue was born on July 11, 1937, in Jerusalem, Ohio, the third of 8 children of the late Harold Friday and Ruby Pearl (Bennett) Friday. Growing up in a large, bustling household instilled in her a lifelong sense of deep loyalty, resourcefulness, responsibility, but most importantly a rich love for family.
In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her husband, James Callow; sisters, Mary Kay (Friday) Cook, Nancy Jo (Friday) Moose; an infant sister, Donna Friday; brothers, Marvin Friday and Steven Friday.
Sue and Jim were married in 1968, and are survived by their three children, Scott Callow, Christine Callow and Troy (Melissa) Callow; Sue’s sisters, Beverly Friday, and Rhonda (Friday) Boughner; Sue’s many beloved nieces and nephews, as well as many grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Sue is also survived by her loving grandchildren that she spoiled and cherished dearly, Kennedy and Tatum Callow.
Sue graduated from Beallsville High School in 1955. She lived a life defined by a devotion to Christ. She had a passionate work ethic, a giving spirit, and love for her family that shaped everything she did.
In her earliest years, Sue was in several bowling leagues, considered a roller skating “rink rat,” and never missed an opportunity to cheer on The Ohio State Buckeyes. She was an Elvis Presley super fan and had a tremendous love for music.
Later in life, she loved reading, bird watching, gardening, working around the house, and simply sitting on the deck sipping an iced tea enjoying beautiful sunsets. She also worked many years as a volunteer at Barnesville Hospital.
Sue worked at the State House in Columbus, Ohio and later she was hired at CONALCO in Hannibal, Ohio where she retired after more than 35 years of service. She was known there as, “The lady that put everyone in their place.” She was loved by all her co-workers and kept the place laughing.
She was a member of the Jerusalem Church of Christ and taught Bible Classes for endless years. Sue’s years were filled with hard work and simple traditions. She enjoyed hosting gatherings such as pool parties, cook-outs, church dinners, and gospel sing-alongs.
Sue and husband Jim also enjoyed vacationing at the beach, trips to the mountains, and random drives down country roads. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life.
Visitation will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home, Harper Chapel, Beallsville, Thursday, September 3 from 5pm to 8pm and then on Friday September 4 from 10am until the time of the funeral service at 11am where Micah Fuchs will be offering words of comfort. Burial will follow in Jerusalem Cemetery.
Sue’s family would like to offer a special thanks to her close friend, Jim Jones, for the countless hours of care, love, and support he showed for their mother, sister, grandmother, and aunt. Additional thanks are being sent to the staff at Westwood Place Assisted Living, Inniswood Health and Rehabilitation, as well as Bella Hospice Care of Westerville, for their care and compassion shown to Sue and all the residents under their care.
