Vision Center Groundbreaking Ceremony Planned
Dr. Melissa Leach, Dr. Zach Leach, their family and professional team at Barnesville Vision Center will gather at 8:30 a.m. this coming Tuesday morning to break ground on the practice’s new facility at 220 N. Chestnut Street.
They will be joined by members of the Barnesville Chamber of Commerce, Main Street Barnesville “fellow businesses, friends, and supporters…for the groundbreaking ceremony as we celebrate this investment in Barnesville.”
The practice opened at 177 East Main Street in July 2003 when Dr. Melissa Leach and her husband Darren returned to their hometown to raise their family.
For the first 10 years following graduation, Dr. Leach’s optometry practice was in Columbus.
The business expanded in May 2020 with the addition of son, Dr. Zach Leach, who joined the practice after earning his Doctor of Optometry from Indiana University.
Two years later, the business further expanded with the merger of The Eye Care Center of Monroe County.
The construction of the new facility will allow the practice to expand further.
Both Drs. Leach are participants in downtown Barnesville activities. Dr. Melissa is a member of the Board of Architectural Review, while Dr. Zach is a board member for both Main Street Barnesville and the Barnesville Area Chamber of Commerce.
The Leach family purchased the land for the new facility from the town a couple of years ago. The property once housed the Barnesville Elks Lodge, a private residence and a second house that was once the office of Dr. Paul Reader and later the office of Attorney Lodge Hanlon and the Barnesville Area Education Foundation. The properties were originally purchased by the village for future development.
