For much of its first century, a feature of the Belmont County Fair featured harness horse racing, a major draw filling the grandstand with standing-room crowds along the oval track fence.
This pamphlet promoted the “speed program” of the 1898 county fair that was held on the 17-acre fairgrounds located south of downtown St. Clairsville along Sugar Street.
