Groundbreaking Ceremony Marks Start of New Downtown Building
The large open lot at the northern edge of the downtown Barnesville business district will soon be abuzz with activity. An official groundbreaking for a new home for Barnesville Vision Center at 220 N. Chestnut Street on a bright, sunny Tuesday morning set the construction stage in motion.
Before the symbolic first shovels of earth were turned, Dr. Zach Leach addressed the crowd gathered for the ceremony.
“Officially on behalf of everyone at the Barnesville Vision Center serving Barnesville and the surrounding communities, this project would not have been possible without support of the village of Barnesville and all the citizens, everybody who worked alongside us and specifically the village council,” Leach said.
Others Leach recognized include:
- Bedway Construction who is going to work to bring our vision to life
- Swiss Valley Association who took our ideas and made them real
- Optical Marketing Group, based in California, that specializes in building optometry offices
- Community Bank for helping provide the financial foundation possible
- Attorney Michael Shaheen for his direction and assistance
- Larry Merry of the Belmont County Port Authority
“We thank our patients for their loyalty, for trusting us. We thank our staff for making things work and being patient. We’re piled on top of each other, quite literally, making things work,” Dr. Leach said.
“We thank our family and, most importantly, we thank God for all his blessings and guidance.”
As Dr. Zach finished he said, “We’re not breaking ground on a new building; we’re laying the foundation for the next chapter for Barnesville Vision Center, for our staff, for more doctors and for better healthcare in the area.”
Observing the groundbreaking were officers and directors from the Barnesville Area Chamber of Commerce, Main Street Barnesville, customers, family and friends.
