Steven Curtis Petrey

Steven Curtis Petrey, 27, of Morristown, Ohio passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at WVU Barnesville Hospital. He was born on December 15, 1998 in Martins Ferry, Ohio to Dewayne and Pia Petrey.

Steven was a 2017 graduate of Union Local High School. Following high school he attended Kent State University where he excelled with a music scholarship. He played four years with the OVAC Band, twice in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. He was a four year member of the Kent State marching band, the Flasher Brass, and Symphony Orchestra. Most recentley he competed with the Rhythm in Blue Blue Coats Sound Sports Competition Band out of Canton, Ohio where they are currently the four time reigning National Champions.
Steven was a member of Friendship 98 Masonic Lodge and the Widow Sons of Ohio Chapter Secret Servants.

Steven was preceded in death by his sister, Nikki Bolen; maternal grandparents, Manfred and Johanna Scholze; paternal grandfather, Curtis Petrey; infant niece, Danielle Bolen; and step-grandfather, Donald “Joe” Yeary.

Steven is survived by his parents, Dewayne and Pia Petrey; niece, whom he referred to as “Bug”, Natalie Bolen; his grandma, Jewell Yeary; aunt, Denise (Blair) White; many nieces and nephews, extended family members.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026 from 12:00pm until the time of the Masonic Service at 1:00pm at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 North Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio. The Funeral Service will follow with Steven’s aunt, Denise White officiating
