William “Frank” Smith III
William “Frank” Smith III, 79, of Cambridge, Ohio passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Valley Hospice – Liza’s Place, Wheeling, West Virginia. He was born on October 23, 1946 in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania to the late William F. and Alene A. (Kunselman) Smith Jr.
Frank was a graduate of Union Local High School. He was a coal miner for Saginaw until it closed. He later retired as a Corrections Officer from Noble Correctional Institution.
In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his brother, Edgar Smith.
Frank is survived by his daughter, Holly Schanks; grandchildren, Joshua (Taylor) Baker, Emily (Richard Wilcox) Hupp, Hannah (Seth) Anderson, and Faith Schanks; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Ravella (Michael) Hartman, Rebecca (Lowell) Kemp, Janet (David Gerner) Hughes, and Rene (Scott) Hughes; and nieces and nephews.
Honoring Frank’s wishes, no services will be held. Frank’s care has been entrusted to Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 North Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio.
