Chestnut Level Woman Sent to Prison for Child’s Death
ST CLAIRSVILLE – Kaitlyn Kuhn, 33, of Chestnut Level Road, was sentenced to two years in prison Monday for the death of her nine-month-old infant son, Luca Daniel Kuhn, in November 2025.
Before Judge Chris Berhalter, Kuhn pleaded guilty/no contest to one count of endangering children, a 3rd degree felony.
The child’s death occurred when suffocated while sleeping in bed with his mother, after she rolled over on him and failed to wake.
Drugs were found in the mother’s system.
In outlining the charges and plea, Joseph Vavra, county assistant prosecutor said, “it was clear that some choices could have been made to avoid the situation.”
The maximum possible penalty for the charge is three years in prison.
The two-year sentence in this case was part of the plea agreement and was agreed to by both the prosecution and the defense.
Following the verdict, Kuhn was taken into custody and remanded to the Belmont County Jail where she will remain until being transferred to the Ohio Prison system.
Belmont County Public Defender Aaron Miller represented Kuhn in court.
