Stephen Sworn in as New School Board Member
At the Barnesville Exempted Village School Board’s October meeting, Christina Stephen was sworn in as a member of the Board of Education. The Board appointed Stephen to fill the unexpired term of Tammy Wells, created by her resignation on September 18.
Barnesville native Christina Stephen graduated from Barnesville High School in 1998. She spent five years at the University of Akron, first majoring in Dance and then transitioning to the Biology/Pre-Professional program. In 2003, Stephen entered The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2007 with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. She has been an employee and Veterinarian in Charge at Barnesville Veterinary Services. Stephen currently resides in Barnesville with her husband Josh, their two sons and family pets.
Stephen will serve through December 31, 2027. An election will be held in 2027 to fill the remaining two years of the term, through December 31, 2029.
After being sworn in, Stephen expressed, “I am excited to be here.” Stephen will serve on the Board’s Building and Grounds and Health and Safety committees for the remainder of the year. Her first official vote was to adjourn the meeting.
Before the appointment, Board President Ed Eberhart offered, on behalf of the Board, their gratitude to Tammy Wells, who served on the Board for nearly five years. “Tammy was a reliable and engaged Board member, and she will certainly be missed,” stated Eberhart.
Other Board actions will be published at a later date.
