Lady Shamrocks Bumped From Tournament
The Barnesville Shamrock volleyball team faced the Martins Ferry Purple Riders on Tuesday evening in the OHSAA District Semifinals. The Shamrocks fell to the Riders 0-3. The set scores were 9-25, 24-26 and 15-25.
When asked about the match, head coach Kimberly Jarrett responded, “We preach that we want to be first to 5 points, 10 points, 15 points, 20 points and 25 points. We achieved the first four, but we just couldn’t get past 24.” She continued, “Unfortunately, we just couldn’t finish there. Martins Ferry did a variety of things at the end that kept us from getting that 25th point in set 2.”
The Barnesville Varsity volleyball team finished the season with an overall record of 11-13. Regarding the season, Jarrett stated, “We are proud of our team for playing competitively against all opponents on our tough schedule. We progressed individually and as a team, and you can’t ask for more than that in volleyball. We will miss our 5 seniors and what they brought to our team.”
