Belmont Savings Bank Seeks Permission to Expand to Wheeling

BELLAIRE – In a legal notice published in the Belmont County daily newspaper Thursday, it was revealed that Belmont Savings Bank seeks to expand its base to Wheeling and the State of West Virginia.
The legal notice reveals the location of the proposed branch is 590 National Road in the Fulton section of the “Friendly City”.
The filing seeks permission from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) to add a fifth office to the Bellaire-based financial institution’s operation.
The proposed office location was originally a carpet warehouse store and later was the corporate headquarters of Progressive Bank, an institution that merged with Pennsylvania-based Community Bank in 2017.
Public comments may be made in writing to the Regional Director of the FDIC Office located at 300 South Riverside Plaza, Suite 1700, Chicago, IL 60606, no later than 15 days from date of the published Notice of August 14.
Belmont Savings Bank is marking its 140th year of operation this fall with a special event at the Bellaire corporate headquarters on September 9. The firm currently operates offices in Bellaire, St. Clairsville, Powhatan Point and Barnesville.
