Harrison House, “Victorian Gem” is on the Market

The Historic Harrison House at 501 East Main Street is currently on the market. The c.1873 updated frame residence consists of six bedrooms and three baths. Spectacular original woodwork and stained glass windows add to the home’s charm.

Owners Jimmy and Paula Grear operate an Airbnb in the home that also serves as the couple’s primary residence.

The home is described in the listing as a “a peaceful retreat just minutes from charming downtown shops, restaurants, and community events, a rare find in one of Ohio’s most desirable small towns that was recently recognized by Ohio Magazine as one of the best towns in Ohio”.

The home is associated with James S. Harrison who came to Barnesville in 1891. Twenty years later, in 1911, he and his sons erected a large factory building next door at 511 East Main when they established the Harrison Shirt Factory (men’s shirts). That building, now razed, was later home to Hansley Mills (men’s underwear), Kennedy Farm Equipment and the East Main Street Flea Market.

At the pumpkin festival, the owners shared they are downsizing with plans to construct a new residence nearby.

Listing agent is Samantha K. Welch of Harvey Goodman Realty. View the online profile here.
