Christmas Activities in Images and Words
There were many Christmas Holiday activities wrapped around the December 6-8 weekend including the annual Lighted Barnesville Christmas Parade sponsored by Hissom’s Service Center.
The Barnesville Chamber of Commerce, the parade’s host posted a video of the parade on their Facebook Page
Of course, the highlight of the parade was ole Saint Nick, Santa Claus himself.
Barnesville High School Cheerleaders led the way.
Chamber volunteers “suited up” as festival inflatable characters for Fun in the Ville and the Christmas Parade.

Barnesville Police Pancakes with The Grinch

The Second Annual Barnesville Police Department’s Pancake with The Grinch was a big hit.
Helping the department last Saturday morning were members of the Barnesville High Bowling Team shown here.
Police Chief Rocky Siriani noted, “this event allows us to support local families and organizations throughout the year”.
Generous donations by Jason Fisher of Combined Property Management and Joel Braido of Braido Memorials allowed every child to eat free-of-charge. Lakeland Foods donated drinks and sausages and Mr. Grinch did his part as well!
No Reindeer but Several Festive Longhorns!

Barnesville, Ohio was a great day with Christmas at The Ville. Dickinson Cattle Co was invited to replace reindeer, who were a no show, with champion Texas Longhorn cattle. The bright blinking Christmas horn lights only showed after dark. They were bright. Hundreds of kids got to feed the Texas Longhorns a special cow candy. Thank you, Barnesville. Jolly Train Rides

Youngsters and their parents were treated with “Jolly Train Rides” at Barnesville Memorial Park last Saturday morning. The event was sponsored by Joe’s Tire and Orrison Maintenance Service, and the Barnesville Chamber in coordination with the Barnesville Pre-School program.

Barnesville’s Second Grade decorated tree at the Belmont County Mansion Museum was judged the best of the submissions winning the class a free pizza party. Over 500 cast votes in the “people’s choice” contest.
Christmas Events with Our Neighbors

Residents of the village of Batesville gathered last Sunday for the first lighting of the village Christmas Tree. Many citizens stopped by, placed ornaments on the tree and enjoyed hot chocolate, and cookies.
Mayor Mandy Bishop spoke during the ceremony and Council President Linda Watson led the group in prayer prior to the countdown and switching on the lights.
Village leaders thank the following individuals for making this project possible: Linda Watson for purchasing our tree, Mark and Lisa Goodhart for helping get the tree in Marietta, the decorated hay bales, as well as the lighted float display; Linda Dollison, Linda Watson, and Karen Duvall for decorating the tree. Beaver township Trustees were thanked for planting our tree while Councilmember Tim Bishop was thanked for faithfully watering the evergreen during the summer and drought. Also, thanks was extended to Matt VanHorn for installing the outside electrical outlet for the lights.

Gary Nichols, a member of the Flushing Senior Center and former teacher and coach at Union Local and before that Barnesville High School, led the way as the Grand Marshal of the Flushing parade Saturday, December 7. Nichols is shown riding as an honored guest in the community’s annual Christmas Parade.

“Enjoy tasty different foods and exchange recipes with lots of fun” was the theme of the cookie exchange by the Barnesville Hutton Memorial Library Adult Cook Book Club on December 10 that drew over 20 participants!

Thursday evening, December 5, Barnesville Hutton Memorial Library and the Barnesville Chamber of Commerce hosted “Christmas in the Park with Santa” at the Albert S. George Youth Center. The night consisted of children’s activities and light refreshments. Santa posed for this photo before all the “good little apple dumplings” arrived for the festivities.
