Michael’s Obituary

Rev. Michael Harvey Bowersock, age 77, of Ostrander, was called to his heavenly home on Tuesday, October 14, 2025. Michael was born on May 8, 1948, in Newark, to the late Charles Lewis and Nancy Lou (Metz) Bowersock.

He enjoyed traveling, with his beautiful bride of almost 58 years. Michael loved spending time with his family and listening to music. What truly defined Rev Bowersock’s life was his commitment to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. After accepting Christ’s free gift of salvation, Mike committed the rest of his life to Christ and to helping people. Mike taught Sunday school, lead youth group and bus ministries and became a deacon at Newark Baptist Temple. Believing he was meant to do more, Rev Bowersock became pastor of Frazeysburg Baptist Church and then he became an evangelist; after attending Bible school. Much of this was done while working at Owens Corning Fiberglass in Newark.

Michael is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Sharon Lucille; children, Tammy Lou (Mike) Bowersock-Bradley, Michael Charles (Kristi) Bowersock, Elaine Renee Nestor, Samuel Jared Bowersock; grandchildren, Elisabeth, Abraham Bradley, Ashlie (Brandon) Shull, Ellissa (Garrette) Helf, Chase Rodocker; great grandchildren, Eli, Gabriella, Javan, Liam, Camryn Draxton; brother, Charles Bowersock; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Hatula; brother, Chris Bowersock; son-in-law, Charles Nestor; and sister-in-law, Brenda Bowersock.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, from 4 – 7 PM, at The Grove by the River, 840 Hollander Street, Newark, Ohio. A service will be incorporated into the celebration starting at 6 PM.
