Hospital Details Work Funded by Grant
Press Release
BARNESVILLE – WVU Medicine Barnesville Hospital is one of 11 organizations across the state to have been awarded funding from the Ohio Department of Development to make several energy-efficiency and infrastructure improvements throughout the facility.
The $1 million award is part of the Department of Development’s Advanced Energy Fund, which provides grants to businesses, nonprofits, municipalities, and educational institutions for projects that reduce energy consumption and associated costs.
“This $1 million investment is an important step in strengthening Barnesville Hospital’s infrastructure and ensuring our facilities can continue to meet the needs of our community for years to come,” Judy Bruno, Barnesville Hospital president and CEO, said. “These upgrades will help us operate more efficiently, reduce energy costs, and maintain a safe, comfortable environment for our patients, visitors, and staff.”
The project will include replacing windows, improving the building envelope, installing a high-efficiency chiller, upgrading LED lighting and controls, and optimizing HVAC controls in the Emergency Department. Once completed, the improvements are expected to reduce the Hospital’s annual energy usage by 20.3 percent.
“We are sincerely grateful for the support of State Rep. Ty Moore and State Sen. Brian Chavez and their office staffs in helping make this investment possible,” Donna White, Barnesville Hospital manager of Grants and Community Development, said.
“With the dedicated assistance from our facilities and grants teams and McKinley Architecture, we will be able to strengthen our infrastructure to make a lasting difference for our hospital and the community we are proud to serve.”
