Watt Program Features Local, Postcard History Presentation

Local historian, Bruce Yarnall, will share a PowerPoint presentation called “Through the Lens of History: Local Postcard History” at an upcoming program at the Watt Center for History and the Arts.

The program will take place at 6 p.m., November 13.

For almost 100 years the postcard was the equivalent of today’s social media “instant messaging” and today’s social media photo posts. Come to the museum to learn about local history through Yarnall’s incredible postcard collection and his stories.

No admission is charged, but the group appreciates a $5 donation to help pay for the organization’s expenses and upkeep of the historic Watt Car and Wheel Company office building.

Doors will open at 5 p.m. for attendees who want to view local business, organization and industrial historical displays maintained by the group.

Art displays, classes and an annual used book sale also encourage appreciation and creativity. More information is posted on the group’s Facebook page.
