Barnesville Man Jailed on Charges
A Barnesville man, who faces three charges related to an accident in Wayne Township earlier this month, is now in jail awaiting a planned preliminary hearing at 1:15 p.m., November 18 before Western Division Court Judge Eric Costine.
Douglas Ryan Johnson, 49, lost control of his vehicle in Wayne Township as reported Nov. 5 in Barnesville Area News . He was injured and hospitalized, spending a number of days prior to Thursday’s court appearance.
Johnson faces three charges – OVI Felony, Driving Under Suspension and Failure to Control Vehicle.

Johnston entered no plea at his initial court appearance.
The official court record reports “in 1999, defendant was designated as a habitual alcoholic. Defendant has 7 prior offenses of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs with the most resent offense resulting in a motor vehicle accident with bodily injury.”

In an unusual move, Judge Costine made “a finding that defendant is a risk to himself and others”.
Johnston was “remanded without bond” to the Belmont County Jail. The Public Defender appointed to represent defendant with the standard Public Defender State application fee of $25.00 assessed and to be paid within 7 days.
