Gary Dean “Bear” Shugart

Gary Dean “Bear” Shugart, age 73, of Cambridge, OH passed away Tuesday December 2, 2025 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, OH. Gary was born on May 9, 1952 to the late Dean A. Shugart and Norma R. (George) Shugart in Cambridge, OH. A graduate of Madison High School Class of 1970. Gary was a heavy equipment mechanic. A member of Quaker City Lodge #500 F & AM where he served a s Secretary and was a Past Master. Gary also held a dual member of Freeport Lodge #415 F & AM. He was also a Past District Educational Officer for the 23rd Masonic District. A member of HOG group from Valley Harley Davidson. He and his wife attended The Old Washington United Methodist Church.
Along with his parents Gary is preceded in death by two brothers, Samuel K. and Roy Alton Shugart.
He is survived by his wife Helen L. Oliver Shugart whom he married June 10, 2005. One son Harley D. (Hope) Shugart of Callahan, FL. Step daughter, Sarah J. Larrick of Cambridge, OH and one step son Scott R. (Tammi) Larrick of Cambridge, OH. Two brothers, Stephen (Marlene) Shugart of Bolivar, OH and Alan (Debby) Shugart of Freeport, OH. Sister-in-law, Barb Shugart of FL. Eight grandchildren: Jami, Bear, Indy, Brendan, Alex, Isabella, Mia, Olive. Gary is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends including, Tim Lyons and Larry Porter.
Friends may call from 10 am till 1 pm Saturday December 6, 2025 at Bundy-Law Funeral Home. There will be a Masonic service at 1:15. The Funeral Service will begin at 1:30 at the funeral home with Rev. Craig Murray and burial will follow in Northwood Cemetery.
