Barnesville’s Christmas Festivities Begin with Tree Lighting

Santa arrived in Barnesville to kick off the Christmas festivities on Thursday night by lighting the town Christmas tree on the corner of Arch and E. Main Streets. Santa addressed the crowd and then took his place on the ladder. The crowd counted down, and Santa sprinkled his magic dust on the tree. The snow-covered tree lit up as well as the crowd’s faces. The children decorated the tree with their homemade ornaments. The tree will be lit throughout the Christmas season.

At the Memorial Plaza, the BHS Chamber Choir sang Christmas carols. Some of the preschool students performed with the choir members. Finally, families walked to the Senior Center to warm up and to enjoy cookies and hot chocolate.
