BHS Football Players and Coach Recognized at Award Show
The 20th annual Bordas and Bordas WTOV9 High School Awards Show on December 18 occurred at Wheeling Island Hotel Casino Racetrack. Barnesville’s Varsity Football program was well represented at the event.
Trey Toliver was a finalist for the Big 22 Player of the Year. Other finalists included Kade Koroneos of Wheeling Central, Ian Starkey of Indian Creek, and Ca’juan Bryant of Steubenville. The winner of the Big 22 Player of the Year was Wheeling Park’s Brennan Wack, who won the honor last year. Wack ended his high school career as the Patriots’ all-time leading rusher with 4,337 yards.
Barnesville Senior Hines Ford won the West Virginia Northern Community College Defensive Player of the Year.
Gavin Morris was named as one of the WVU Medicine Offensive Blocks of Granite. Dillon Lucas was a nominee for this award.
Christien Hannahs was nominated for the WVU Medicine Defensive Blocks of Granite.
Coach Blake Allen explained that the head football coaches of area teams submitted the award nominations. The selection process then involved a panel of coaches and media. Coach Allen said, “I am proud of these young men, having their hard work recognized and acknowledged.”

Barnesville’s Coach Brady Treherne was named American Consolidated Natural Resources, Inc. Offensive Assistant Coach of the Year.
Coach Treherne shared that this honor is “because of working with a great coaching staff and great players with talent, great work ethic, and love for the game.”
The American Consolidated Natural Resources, Inc. Defensive Assistant Coach of the Year was Cameron’s Derek Martin.
