Barnesville Area News Website Blossoms!

The website for Barnesville Area News is quickly becoming a popular source of local news.  Since debuting last fall online as Barnesville Area News, more and more people are turning to our colorful website as the regular sources of news from western Belmont County and our neighbors in Guernsey, Monroe and Noble counties.

Barnesville Area News got its start in May 2023 as a Facebook and email report by former Barnesville Enterprise general manager Bruce Yarnall.

When volunteer Barnesville News webmaster Brock Rogers posted a photo of the “Coming Soon” sign for the Tlaquepaque Restaurant on Barnesville’s eastside last Friday, it quickly became the most viewed, shared and commented upon post in our short history. In three short days, over 26,000 people saw and visited the post over 86,000 times!

On Facebook, over 1,500 people “reacted to the post” and over 400 felt compelled to comment.

Website analytics over the past two months are impressive!

Between December 1 and the end of January active users of the website increased 51 percent from 2,700 active users to 4,100. New users increased 52 percent while the number of pageviews of users increased almost as much, just short of 48 percent from 9,200 page views to over 14,000.

Interactions through social media platforms such as Facebook went up 65 percent to 4,800 sessions while folks who went directly to barnesvillenews.org went up 8 percent to 1,200 sessions.

Facebook remains Barnesville Area News’ most popular social media platform today connecting Barnesville Area News with over 10,000 individuals who logged over 53,000 views in January up 63 percent from December’s 39,300 views.

Within days of the new restaurant post, the number of Facebook “followers” doubled to 863 while another 307 “liked” the news page. On February 2, those numbers are up even further – 957 follower and 337 likes!
