Grover Gary Gallagher

Grover Gary Gallagher, 85, of Quaker City passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at his home after an extended illness.

Grover was born November 4, 1940, at Seneca Lake to Leo and Mary (Creighton) Gallagher and was a Methodist by faith. He was a 1958 graduate of Quaker City High School. He married Carol (Butler) Gallagher on June 3, 1961, and were just shy of their 65th wedding anniversary. Grover worked in his early years at Bob Addy Ford in Quaker City and Doan Ford in Bethesda. Then he and his wife worked almost forty- five years for S&T Management in Dublin managing several apartment complexes throughout Ohio where Grover did maintenance and groundskeeping. They also owned and operated the Gallagher’s Laundromat for a few years in the late seventies and early eighties. He also loved to buy and sell cars, the Barnesville Pumpkin Festival, Guernsey County Fair, and especially the Ohio Hills Folk Festival where he could be found sitting at his favorite spot on the bridge or helping with the car show. Grover also enjoyed cruising town in his 1961 Ford Galaxie Sunliner convertible or golf cart.

Grover was preceded in death by his parents; his father and mother- in- law, Vernon and Cinderella Butler; brother, Arlen Gallagher; and a great- granddaughter, Briley Mae Reiland.

In addition to his wife, he leaves two children, a son, Brent (& Teresa) Gallagher of Salesville; and a daughter, Brenda (& Fred) Stephens of Cambridge; his grandchildren, Jocelyn (& Julian) Rich, Benita (& Greg) Reiland, Brice (& Alex) Gallagher, Mallori (Troy) Milhoan, and Matt (Britni) Starr; and her great- grandchildren, Jasmine, Eriana, Korbin, Gwen, Nash, and Lane. Grover also leaves his good buddies Les Morgan, Brent Carpenter, Phillip Bunfil, and Dave Carpenter.

Visitation will be held at Thorn- Black Funeral Home Quaker City on Friday, April 24, 2026, from 4PM-8PM and the service will be Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 11AM with burial to take place at Friends Cemetery. Pastor Jeff Eschbaugh will officiate.

Memorial contributions can be made in his honor to Hospice of Guernsey.
