Rox Advance to OVAC 3A Final
Barnesville – 4, Martins Ferry – 3
Barnesville won a huge home game on Monday, 4-3, against the Purple Riders in the OVAC 3A semifinal. The Shamrocks will play Wheeling Central for the OVAC 3A championship on Friday at Harrison Central at 7:30 pm. The Maroon Knights dispatched Fort Frye, 3-1 at Beverly Monday evening.
Dylan Blon started and was excellent on the mound, scattering 5 hits over 6 1/3 innings to earn the victory. Blon struck out 6 batters and walked two. Parker Sobutka pitched in relief the final two-thirds of an inning in relief to preserve the win and earn the save.
Offensively, the Rox produced 7 hits led by Brayden Watters with 2 hits. Max Miller, Blake Burkhart (2 RBI), Dylan Blon (1RBI), Keegan Martin, and Jack Anderson each added a hit apiece.
A day before the final, however, Barnesville, now 13-3 on the season, will host Monroe Central Thursday evening. The first pitch is at 5 p.m.

Monday, the Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association released its updated weekly poll. The Shamrocks moved up one spot and are now ranked #7 in Division 5 in the State of Ohio.
