Certificate Presented for Gold Star Families Memorial Monument Donation

District 5 VFW Commander Roy Campbell Jr., a member of the New Matamoras VFW Post, visited Barnesville Post #2792 Thursday evening to present a certificate of appreciation for the local post’s donation to the Ohio Gold Star Families Memorial Monument.

Barnesville was one of 12 posts in the state to contribute to the memorial that was dedicated on National Gold Star Mother’s and Family Day, September 29, 2024.

The memorial is located on the grounds of the National Veterans Memorial and Museum located at 300 West Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio.    

The certificate from the Ohio Gold Star Families Memorial Monument Committee in collaboration with the Woody Williams Foundation with the National Veterans Memorial and Museum, “recognizes VFW Post #2792 for their support for the Ohio Gold Starr Families Memorial Monument project. The monument, a poignant and enduring tribute, stands as a bacon of remembrance and reverence, honoring the sacrifice of our Gold Star Families and the valor of our national heroes”.    

Following the presentation, the Barnesville Post welcomed two new members, both combat veterans – Justin Bell and Dakota Rager.

The group also approved donations totaling $6,600 for the following groups/causes: Heart Association, Deerassic Park, Vets with Pets, Barnesville School Track Team, Barnesville Middle School Baseball program, Civil Air Patrol, and Barnesville Schools Robotics Teams.
