Barnesville Blood Bash: This Friday May 8

Press Release

BARNESVILLE — Nonprofit Vitalant is urging the community to donate blood at the annual Barnesville Blood Bash, scheduled for Friday, May 8, to support local patients in need of transfusions. Now in its 42nd year, the student-led event has resulted in thousands of donations, transforming lives.

Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs a blood transfusion. Each year, students, families and community members come together to donate blood, resulting in more than 300 donations that support patients at area hospitals facing birth complications, cancer and routine surgeries. Over the past decade alone, nearly 4,000 donations have been collected, each with the potential to save multiple lives. Donors of all blood types are needed, especially type O. It is in the highest demand, particularly in emergencies, because O-negative can be given to any patient and O-positive to most patients.

Donate to the 42nd Annual Barnesville Blood Bash at:

  • Date: Friday, May 8, 2026
  • Time: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
