Colorful Festival Quilt Show
QUAKER CITY – Over 75 quilts were hung from standards while many others were draped over the historic wooden pews of Central Christian Church in Quaker last week. The Ohio Hills Folk Festival Quilt Show is a long-running feature of the celebration that marked its 122nd year in 2026.
There were a variety of categories such as best machine made quilt, best hand quilted design and others with winners in each category.

Of special interest was the American Bicentennial quilt that was pieced and hand quilted by Ernestine Gallagher (1911-2002) of Quaker City and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Parish at Temperanceville. The quilt was donated and raffled off at the annual Temperanceville Picnic in 1976, 50 years ago.
The raffle winner was Kathleen Miller, one of the current show organizers. Friday night she shared that she and her husband, Tom, were also married that year making this their Golden Wedding Anniversary year. Today, the quilt is the possession of their daughter, Michelle Miller Winters.
