Esther Olive Wells

Esther Olive Wells, 76, of Jackson, Ohio, formerly of Barnesville, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio. She was born on November 13, 1949 in Ohio to the late Forrest William Kiger and Margaret Sue (Garrett) Butler.

Esther was a 1968 graduate of Barnesville High School. She worked several jobs throughout her life and retired as a food handler, for McDonalds.

In addition to her parents, Esther was preceded in death by her loving step-father, James Butler; her husband, Gary Wells; step-daughter, Linda Gibbons.

Esther is survived by her son, William Gibbons; a granddaughter; sisters, Donna (Nathan) Brown, Patricia (Richard) Smith, Irene Brown, and Nancy (Tim) Perkins; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 from 11:00am until the time of the service at 1:00pm with Pastor Brian Hollis at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 North Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio. Burial will follow at Hope Cemetery in Hendrysburg, Ohio.
