Cruise In Featured Cars and Community
Under bright, sunny skies this past Sunday, over 20 drivers cruised in and displayed their vintage cars along East Main Street and in the village parking lot. Dale Bunting spearheaded the planning of the event for the Main Street Barrel House Bistro.
Unlike a car show, a cruise in is a casual, non-competitive gathering for vehicle enthusiasts to socialize. Cars can come and go throughout the event.
Leah McClurg of the restaurant shared that she believes that the event is a way to revitalize the Barnesville downtown and an event for the Barnesville community. Visitors strolled the street and stopped to chat with the car owners, who enjoyed bragging about their cars.
Bunting said the cruise in was planned for a Sunday, hoping that after church people would stop in the Barrel House to eat, admire the cars, and shop at local businesses.
Each car entry received a dash plaque. The following businesses and people sponsored the event: Doan Ford, Hissom’s, Advanced Auto, Dave and Brande Carpenter, and Dale Bunting.
