Barnesville America 250 Time Capsule Ceremony Planned

BARNESVILLE – As part of the Barnesville America 250 Committee efforts to celebrate our nation’s history and preserve the heritage of our community, the committee will host a Time Capsule Dedication Ceremony at 4 p.m., Sunday, October 25, 2026, at the Barnesville Depot. This time capsule will serve as a snapshot of Barnesville in 2026, preserving a small piece of our community’s history for future generations.

The public is invited to attend the ceremony.

Community organizations and institutions have been asked to contribute one item that represents its history, mission, or unique role in the Barnesville community.

“Our hope is to bring together meaningful pieces of Barnesville’s rich history and community spirit, showcasing the organizations that have helped shape our town and continue to make it such a special place,” said Lindsay Dowdle, village council member/ America 250 committee member.

“These contributions will provide future generations with a meaningful glimpse into Barnesville as it is today, the organizations that serve our community, and the history and traditions we continue to preserve.”

The capsule is scheduled to be opened on October 25, 2076, marking 50 years since its dedication.
