Girl Scout Troop 10124 Santa Sprint Toy Drive
Girl Scout Troop 10124 recently placed toy donation boxes at Family Dollar, Dollar General Barnesville Antique Mall, Barnesville Police Department and Chestnut Lanes. The Santa Sprint Toy Drive is now accepting donations until December 20th. Donations go to local families in need this Christmas.
Thanksgiving Meal Food Drive
Amy Latham, State Farm Insurange Agent, located on Maple Avenue, Bethesda, is currently collecting food items for 60 meals for deserving Barnesville and Union Local school district families. The drive will end on Wednesday, November 20. Food items needed include 60 turkey gift cards, gravy can/jar, stuffing, instant potatoes (boxes), canned vegetables and noodles. Once collected, the meal components will be distributed by the school districts.
Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Thanksgiving Dinner – Nov. 21
Members and their families of the Barnesville VFW are invited to a Thanksgiving Dinner, Thursday, November 21 at the VFW Post. The meal begins at 6:00. Members are asked to bring a covered dish to be shared.
Chamber Seeks Christmas in the Park Sponsors/Participants
The second Christmas in the Park display at Barnesville Memorial Park will run from Wednesday, November 29 through Thursday, January 2, 2025.
Last week, the Chamber shared the following message: “We still have spots available for Christmas in the Park. We are seeking businesses, organizations and families to help light up our park. It was nice last year…but let’s try to make it bigger and better than last year. So many said t they were going to set up a display this year…We dare you.”
Chamber Seeks Ice Skating Rink Sponsors
The Barnesville Chamber’s Christmas in the Ville Ice Skating Rink will return this year.
The group is currently seeking corporate sponsors to underwrite the popular feature.
Sponsorships are:
Santa – Donors receive five $25 Barnesville Gold Gift Certificate, business logo on a banner ($1,000)
- Snowman – Donors receive three $25 Barnesville Gold Gift Certificates, business logo on a banner ($500)
- Elf – Donors receive one $25 Barnesville Gold Gift Certificate, business logo on a banner ($100)

South Central Power Hat and Glove Drive
“If you’re in the Barnesville area, drop by our office to participate in our Hat and Glove Drive. The office will be collecting hats and gloves through December 3 to donate to local schools”. The office is at 37801 Barnesville-Bethesda Road. The office is open 8:00-5:00, Monday through Friday.
Experience the Magic of Christmas at the Victorian Mansion

The Belmont County Victorian Mansion is transformed for Christmas with each room decorated by local Barnesville area businesses, organizations, and individuals. This year’s theme is Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. The Christmas season has begun, and the Belmont County Historical Society invites you to tour their Victorian home. The tours are on weekends now through December 22nd. On Fridays, tour hours are 5-8 p.m. On Saturdays and Sundays, they are 1-4 p.m. The admission fee is $8 for adults and $2 for students ages 6-18. Senior citizens, veterans, and groups 10+ enjoy $1 off admission. Private tours for groups of ten or more are available by reservation through January 12th.
In addition to tours, the Belmont County Victorian Mansion will host several Christmas Teas. Spots are still available for the December 6th and 7th teas starting at 11:30 a.m. Cost is $25 per person. If you would like to make a reservation, please call 740-695-0766.
Finally, Barnesville Elementary’s first through fourth graders are creating ornaments and hanging them on trees assigned to each grade level located on the Victorian Mansion’s front porch. Beginning November 20th through December 6th, families, friends, and community members are encouraged to come to the museum, enjoy the creativity of our young community members, and vote for your favorite tree. Cast your vote online at info@belmontcountymuseum.com or in person at the mansion. Pizza and drinks will be awarded to the grade level with the most votes.

The Belmont County Museum was one of five historic house museums featured in Ohio Magazine
as places to visit for the upcoming holidays. Other decorated museums covered in the edition are located in Akron, Dover, Millersburg and Youngstown.

Beallsville “Christmas in the Village Craft, Vendor Sale”- Nov. 23
The event, sponsored by Beallsville 7th and 8th Graders, will take place, Saturday, November 23 from 9:00-3:00. Local artists, vendors and crafters will have items for sale. Ther will also be a gift card tree raffle and bake sale. The event will take place at the Beallsville School Campus east of town on SR 556.
Cheffy Drugs Window Decorating Contest
Cheffy Drugs is the sponsor of the Barnesville Area Chamber of Commerce’s First Window Decorating Contest. Participants must call Cheffy Drugs to register at (740) 425-1582 to register. Decorations must be in place by 3:00 Thursday, December 5. Judging will take place that evening.
Decorations will be judged on originality, creativity, lighting and overall appeal. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places and Peoples Choice.
Lifestyle Gym Nutcracker Contest
Barnesville’s Lifestyle Gym is sponsoring the Barnesville Chamber’s first Nutcracker Contest during Christmas in the Ville on December 6-7 at the West Main Street Parking Lot.
Rules: Nutcracker must stand on it own; minimum height, 3 feet; displays must be up by 6:00 on Friday, December 6; Nutcrackers may be purchased by must be painted/decorated by the individual/organization responsible for the entry.
Judging will take place on the 6th from 6:00-8:00 and again on the 7th from 10:00-4:00.
Prizes will be awarded for the Most Creative, Most Traditional and Most Town Spirited entries.

5B’s Factory Outlet Sale – December 5-8
The annual holiday sale at the firm’s former factory location in Barnesville, 130 East South Street, will take place Thursday, December 5 through Sunday, December 8.
Christmas in the Park with Santa – December 5
The Barnesville Hutton Memorial Library and Barnesville Area Chamber of Commerce are teaming up for a special night at “Christmas in the Park” on Thursday, December 5 from 6:30-8:30. The event takes place at the Albert S. George Youth Center, 130 Fair Street.
Children’s activities and light refreshments will be offered from 6:30-8:30. Santa will visit between 7:00-8:00.
Beallsville Community Tree Lighting – December 6
Beallsville Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. Will take place Friday, December 6 at 6:00. “Join Santa in lighting our town Christmas tree.”
Pancakes with the Grinch – December 7
The Barnesville Police Department will host “Pancakes with the Grinch”, Saturday, December 7 at the Albert S. George Youth Center, Barnesville Memorial Park. Serving hours for pancakes, sausage and drink are from 8:00-10:00. The cost is $5 per person. Photos with the Grinch available. All proceeds benefit a local cause.
Belmont Village Christmas Kick Off – December 7
The Belmont Village Holiday Kick Off will take place on Saturday, December 7. The day begins with Breakfast with Santa from 9:00-11:00 and ends with the Village Tree Lighting Ceremony at 6:00,
Union Local 6th Grade Jingle Bell Alley – December 7
Homemade products, crafts, food, jewelry, home décor, vintage ornaments and more will be offered from 9:00-11:00 at the Union Local Middle School Gym.
Quaker City, Salesville “Christmas in the Country” – December 7
The community of Quaker City will mark the launch of the Christmas Holiday Season on Saturday, December 7 with a bazaar at the Quaker City Firehouse from 11:00-4:00. Craft booths will be located at three locations – QC Fire House, Old Bank Mercantile and Salesville Church of Faith.
Members of the Quaker City United Methodist Church will offer hot chocolate and cookies in the gazebo at 6:00.
The Community Tree lighting will take place at 6:30 followed by a benefit auction at 7:00. Donations for auction items are now being accepted.
Meals offered from the QCVFD kitchen that day will include lunch options and a Baked Spaghetti Dinner in the evening.
Beallsville Schools Christmas Concert/Family Fun Night – Dec. 11
The Beallsville Schools Music Program will present a Christmas Concert, Wednesday, December 11 at 6:00. Performances will be offeed by the 3-5 grade music classes, 5th grade band, and the Beallsville High School Band. The concert will take place a the school campus. It will be followed by a “Family Fun Night”.
Grinch Family Night – December 12
The Barnesivlle Hutton Memorial Library will host a famly storytime for all ages at the Library Annex, 616 N. Chestut Street at 6:30 Thursday, December 12. The “Grinch” will be ther for an evenig of stories, crafts and a snack.

Join members of the Holloway Methodist Church for a special “Light Up Holloway” event on Saturday, December 14. Gift card prizes awarded.

The free event will take place at the BHS Auditorium, Wednesday, December 18, beginning at 7:00.

Barnesville State Theater – “Winter Frost Gala” – December 20
Featuring the Ron Retzer Trio, enjoy an evening of winter cheer while supporting the Barnesville State Theater Restoration Project. The event will take place in the Barnesville Elks Ballroom, 6:30-9:30. The cost is $30 per person which includes dinner, cash bar, show. Semi-formal attire.
The evening includes Cocktails, 6:30 (cash bar), Dinner, 7:00, Music 8:00-9:30.

Barnesville Kiwanis Club’s First Ornament Walk
Tickets are now available for the Barnesville Kiwanis Club’s 1st Ornament Walk. For a $10 ticket, you’ll receive 19 unique ornaments. There are a limited number of ornament packages available for purchase.
Tickets can be purchased at Blossoms, the Chamber Office, Ferrum Fit, Woodsfield Savings Bank, or from any Kiwanis member. Ornaments can be picked up starting Saturday, December 7th at Christmas in the ‘Ville.
Only 144 tickets are available, so get yours early. All proceeds will benefit our Coats and Shoes for Kids program.

Union Local Rotary Winter Clothing Collection for Students in Need
The Union Local Rotary is having a hosing a Hoodie program to collect hoodies, Sweatshirts, toboggans, gloves, sweatpants, etc., with colors of Red, Blue and Black.
A BLUE can is located at the Municipal building in Bethesda, from November 1 to December 4, 2024.
Donations may also be made at the club’s Wednesday Noon meetings that take place at 12:00 at the Pike 40 Restaurant. Financial donations are also welcomed.
You can donate items or make a financial donation to our club earmarked for this great project. We meet on Wednesdays at Noon at the Pike 40.
