BARNESVILLE, OHIO – Misty Moore, RN of Barnesville Hospital was recently honored with The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses.
This award recognizes nurses who demonstrate exceptional compassion and dedication to their patients, families, and colleagues.
“Our nursing team is extraordinary leaders of our profession; they are dedicated and provide compassionate care to our patients,” Susan Redish, director of nursing for Barnesville Hospital and Harrison Community Hospital, said. “Misty is a prime examples of what we do daily along with promoting a calm and healing environment during a time of need.”
Moore, a 14-year employee of Barnesville Hospital, was nominated by a patient’s daughter, who wrote, “Misty was so good to her and listened. She got all our questions answered. She is very good at her job and very caring.”
Other nominees at Barnesville Hospital include Micaela Drewett, RN. Nurses may be nominated by patients, families, and colleagues. The award recipient is chosen by a committee at Barnesville Hospital through a blind selection process sanctioned by the DAISY Foundation.
The DAISY Foundation is a not-for-profit organization, established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes by members of his family. Patrick died at the age of 33 in late 1999 from complications of idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, a little known but not uncommon auto-immune disease. DAISY is an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System. The care Patrick and his family received from nurses while he was ill inspired this unique means of thanking nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of their patients and patient families.
