Barnesville Council Meeting Minutes for May 19

Barnesville Police, Fire and Mayor’s Court Reports

Barnesville Police Chief Rocky Sirianni shared the following July department activities with the village council on June 2: 

o             Calls for Service – 196 (Barnesville Dispatch, 174; Central Dispatch, 22)

o             Barnesville Dispatch Log Entries – 283

o             Western Division Offenses (3). Burglary, B & E, Theft, 1; Drug Possession, 1; Other Drug, 1; Juvenile Offenses, 2.

o             Mayor’s Court Offenses – 15

o             Traffic Stops – 34

o             Call Records – 25

o             Total Crash Reports Completed – 11

The police chief’s report notes that Calls to Service include emergency calls, calls that an officer was dispatched to/responded to, traffic stops, arrests, etc.  And Barnesville Dispatch Log Entries include all other interactions such as on station complaints or inquiries, calls to Barnesville Dispatch that did not warrant an officer response, non-police complaints or inquiries such as Water, Street, etc.

Fire Chief Tim Hall reported the following activity for the month of May:

Fire Runs – 7

EMS Calls – 96

Transports from WVU Medicine/Barnesville Hospital to other Facilities – 2

Mayor Jake Hershberger reported the following Mayor’s Court receipts for the month of May:

Barnesville Village Fees  – $1,328

Remitted to State of Ohio – $487.50

Remitted to Belmont County – $19.50

Total Fines Collected – $1,835.00

Barnesville Village Finance Committee 2026 Capital Budget Projects

The village is required to spend 20% of income tax collections each year on captial projects for the village and its citizens.

The committee selected six areas or projects to fund totaling $345,000 out of total “wish list” project suggestions totaling $1,579,500

The following will be included in the budget submitted to the Belmont County Budge Commission by t the village fiscal officer in July.

Police Department, new cruiser:  $67,500

Fire Department/EMS, electronic street sign: $10,000

Park Department, Capital Projects: $50,000

Cemetery, new mower: $18,000

General Projects, paving: $100,000

Street Department, replace two trucks with new 1 ton dump truck: $100,000

Total                                                                                $345,000          

Please note, the funded budget items do not cover Water and Wastewater budget items. They come out of a separate account.
