Elane was a 1958 graduate of St. Clairsville High School. She was a retired employee of the former Ponzani’s Florist and Garden Center, having worked there for 50 years. Elane was well known for her love of gardening and had the ability to share her talent with others, impacting the lives of many. She was down to earth, dedicated, loyal and a realist.
Elane was admired by family and friends for her generosity, strength and independence. She gave unwavering love and support to her kids and was proud to be mom and nana. Elane was extremely proud of her father, Frank, and his role in the 1940 Willow Grove mine explosion rescue efforts. Sharing stories of her childhood experiences and close relationships with friends from her youth brought her much joy. Meeting and making friends had always been easy for her. Elane found joy in antiquing, going on day trips with the girls and eating at Schlepp’s Family Restaurant. She was especially devoted to her cats, Seven and Sasha, who have now been welcomed into a new home.
The Gacek family is grateful for the kindness and support of her loving neighbors, Kathy and Bill Gibeaut.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville.
