Smith Township Alumni Group Folds, Banquet Canceled

CENTERVILLE – The alumni banquet for the Smith Township High School in Centerville is canceled this year.  The committee made the decision after failing to get additional help from alumni, as volunteers, and said they regret this decision.

All money remaining in the account will be donated to the Smith Township Community Center.

The former Smith Township High School, later Centerville Elementary School, was erected in the late 1930s. When the Union Local High School opened in 1959, the school served as Centerville Elementary School until 1998 when the current consolidated elementary school opened in Morristown.

Since that time, the building has served as the Smith Township Community Center and as home for  the Centerville Senior Center for the Belmont County Senior Services Agency.
