Church and Religious News – December 1

Members of the First Christian Church, Barnesville recently prepared 204 shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. The congregation exceeded the church goal of 200 boxes.

Shoebox gifts built online go to the ends of the earth to children in some of the hardest-to-reach places—whether deep jungles, city slums, steep mountainsides, or one of more than 1,000 remote Pacific islands.

Online boxes are carefully prepared, abiding by strict customs regulations to safeguard partners who will deliver the gifts, as well as the boys and girls who receive them.

The Winter Shekinah Christian Fellowship Coat Rack is up and available 24/7 inside the front doors of Shekinah at 137 West Main Street in Barnesville.

“If you have an extra coat, feel free to leave it. If you need one, feel free to take one! Hats, scarves, and gloves are also accepted.”

The congregation notes clothing donations are not accepted at this time. Just warm, clean winter outerwear.

Barnesville First Christian/Shekinah Fellowship Partner on Hurricane Aid Trip

“We are looking forward to partnering with First Christian Church of Barnesville to share the love of God in North Carolina. Barnesville and the neighboring communities are making a difference and shining a light in some very dark circumstances” – Barnesville Shekinah Fellowship.

Needs for next week’s relief trip to North Carolina (Dec. 7-12):

1. Bagged cookies for distribution (2 cookies to a bag)

2. Monetary donations to purchase food for meal prep (will be serving several hundred meals a day)

3. Ground beef

4. Small propane cylinders (16 oz)

5. Small space heaters (new or used)

6. Toiletry items (tissues, toilet paper, hand soap, body wash, toothbrushes and toothpaste, lotions, etc.)

7. LOTS OF PRAYER for team members from FCC and Shekinah and especially those we go to serve!

We will primarily be preparing and serving food to hundreds of people in the Swannanoa area each day, delivering supplies, praying with people, and sharing hope. We also hope to make contacts and find out how we can best be used for future trips.

Donations can be dropped off at the First Christian church office weekday mornings from 9:00 to 12:00 noon. Financial contributions can also be mailed to the church at 219 W. Church St., Barnesville, OH  43713.
