Morris Ernest Miller, 80, of Barnesville, Ohio passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2025, surrounded by family at his home. He was born on October 29, 1944, in Chillicothe, Ohio to the late Everett Miller and Ruth (Hunter) Harrington.
Shirley Marie Montgomery, 88, of Cambridge, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at Altercare of Cambridge.
Shirley was born on February 20, 1936, in Salesville, a daughter of the late Homer and Ada (Potts) Lent.
Shirley was a homemaker until her kids left and then worked for AVI Vending. She enjoyed baking and going to Wheeling Island. Shirley was a lifelong member of Faith United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Montgomery, whom she married on August 5, 1951, and passed away on June 27, 2017, her sister, Yvonne (Bill) Eschbaugh, her brother, Charles (Florence) Lent, her great-granddaughter, Taylor, her nephew, Dave Lent, her sister-in-law, Gladys (Carl) Dillon, and her fur child, Maggie.
Shirley is survived by her son, Rick Montgomery of Cambridge, her daughters, Resa Montgomery of Cambridge and Rhonda (Ray) Offenbacher of Ellisville, MS, and her sister-in-law, Carolyn Lent of St. Clairsville. Also left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren, Kelly Buckley, Daniel and Christopher Montgomery, James (Candi) Aman III, and Chelsea (Josh) Compton, her step granddaughter, Briana Offenbacher, her great-grandchildren, Blain Conrad, and Christian and Colton Aman, her step great-grandchildren, Siler and Carissa Offenbacher, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025, from 12-2PM with the service to immediately follow at Thorn Black Funeral Home in Cambridge with Pastor Jeff Eschbaugh officiating. Burial will follow at Guernsey Memory Gardens.
The Village of Barnesville invites interested residents to apply for a vacant council member position. This role involves active participation in local governance and decision-making processes. Applicants must have been residents of the village for at least the past 12 months and be committed to attending regular council meetings.

Marshall Meade has been selected to play in the annual Ohio North-South All-Star game where he will be representing the Shamrocks against the best players across the entire state. The game takes place last weekend in April in Massillon.
