Parishioners and community members can enjoy a meal and prizes at St. John the Baptist Church annual picnic this August.

The annual gathering of representatives of the Ohio Yearly Meeting of Conservative Friends has been a Barnesville staple since 1878 when the current Stillwater meeting house was erected. Belmont County LifeWise Directors are coordinating a 5K run that will raise money for Bible-based learning programs on Saturday, August 9.
The county-wide 5k run fundraiser registration will begin at 7 a.m. followed by the race at 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 9 at the Belmont County Fairgrounds, 45420, Roscoe Rd, St. Clairsville.
Somerton native Don Byers continues his life after driving more than three million miles in his career with Greyhound.
Byers, who just turned 91 in June, settled on East Walnut Street, where he keeps his wife’s ashes, his brothers’ military memorabilia, and his own stack of awards from Greyhound. He continues to be close with his four children and 16 grandchildren.
