Monday night, after “closed session” interviews with five of six candidates for two open village council seats, Barnesville council members selected two former members for the positions for the remainder of 2025.
Residents are asked to remove grave decorations from all village operated cemeteries. These include Crestview, Northern, and Southern cemeteries.

The Village of Barnesville Emergency Notification System, CodeRED, will be tested on Saturday, March 1st at approximately 1:00 PM to validate telephone numbers in the CodeRED database system. The CodeRED system is provided to Barnesville through Belmont County 911.
Six citizens applied for the two open village council seats by the Wednesday afternoon deadline, according to Mayor Jake Hershberger.
Chad Zambori, director of the Belmont County CARES program, recently shared with Belmont County Commissioners activities for the program in 2024. The county-wide program is associated with the Cumberland Trail Fire District. CARES stands for Community Access Resources Education and Solutions.
With almost 60 live Christmas trees donated to the Belmont Soil and Water Conservation District, on this fifth year of the program, the beneficiaries this year are Barkcamp State Park Lake and small mammals and birds.
