For a third time in as many years, Union Local Schools seeks approval from district voters for additional support for improvements to school buildings and facilities.
While many local contests for villages, townships and school boards are uncontested in the upcoming Nov. 4 General Election, others are hotly contested with multiple candidates seeking a limited number of open seats. In those subdivisions, voter interest is naturally higher.
The Mental Health and Recovery Board of Belmont, Harrison and Monroe Counties want to keep mental health services available in Belmont County as it asks for the public’s support on a renewal levy.
The board will have a 1.25-mill renewal levy on the ballot for the Nov. 4 election. The measure involves no new taxes, as it renews an approved levy.

The Barnesville Community Foundation’s Annual Meeting that took place October 13 included the election of officers and trustees for the coming year.
The Kiwanis Pancake Day will be from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 25 at the Assumption Catholic Church basement. This is the organization’s biggest fundraiser of the year, with tickets at $10 for adults, $5 for ages five to 12 and free for those under three.
