Barnesville native Shane Thornton and his son, Conner of Dublin, Ohio, are currently ranked 11th in the nation in Father/Son Doubles for the Unites States Tennis Association.
Through a grant from the Barnesville Area Education Foundation, the Barnesville School District purchased 100 Help Belts, which are available to Barnesville students and their families. In the event of a car accident where the driver becomes injured, the Help Belt notifies first responders of an individual’s potential inability to communicate verbally or follow the directions of first responders.
On January 2, 2019, 1954 BHS graduate John H. Borton died at the age of 82. His will directed his property in Oxford Township, Guernsey County, be sold and the proceeds split between the Barnesville Area Education Foundation and the East Guernsey School District.
On December 16, the Barnesville Performing Arts presented the second performance of the winter concert series in the BHS Auditorium. This event included the beginning band, intermediate band, and chamber band.
Claymont claimed the crown of the Barnesville Doan Ford Invitational. Barnesville takes second place out of a field of 17 teams.
